COLOR IN POTABLE WATER
Color of incoming raw water is used as a control parameter for proper operation of a water treatment plant. Tytronics'® Sentinel measures "apparent color" utilizing a direct spectrophotometric method. "Apparent color" includes not only color due to substances in solution, but also that due to suspended matter.
METHOD
A direct spectrophotometric method is used to measure "apparent color". The instrument monitors two wavelengths, measurement wavelength of 450nm and a reference wavelength of 810nm. Path-length of the measurement cell is 2 cm; analysis time is 1 minute.
TYTRONICS ANALYZERS:
-
Provide continuous on-line analysis of water or wastewater stream;
-
Include self-checking for easy diagnostics;
-
Minimize sampling requirements.;
-
Have multiple communication ports, including bi-directional RS 232.
TYTRONICS'® SENTINEL
The Tytronics'® Sentinel is an on-line colorimetric analyzer, using a batch sampling technique that allows the use of 0.25" tubing for sample and reagent lines, so small amounts of solids will not affect instrument performance. A Kynar cyclone filter can be supplied to remove excessive solids in the sample.
Other advantages of batch sampling are:
-
Analytical results are not affected by sample and reagent flows;
-
Analyses are only performed as frequently as required, minimizing reagent consumption.
The instrument has an auto blank feature which compensates for sample background color. Because of these features, weekly instrument calibration is sufficient, and calibration is automatically performed to insure instrument accuracy
Enhanced Features of Tytronics’ Sentinel:
-
Programmable from 1 to 10 methods for a single analysis compound;
-
Up to 3 different calibration methods;
-
Eight relay outputs, multi-programmable on each relay;
-
Alarm functions, including sample flow, reagent level detection;
-
From 1 to 6 stream configurations standard
