PHENOL
Phenols may occur in domestic and industrial wastewaters, natural waters and potable water supplies. Chlorination of such waters may produce odorous and objectionable-tasting chlorophenols. Phenol removal processes in water treatment include superchlorination, chlorine dioxideor chloramine treatment, ozonation and activated carbon absorption.
TYTRONICS'® SENTINEL
Tytronics’ Sentinel is an on-line colorimetric analyzer that measures phosphate using methods that duplicate the procedures from the Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, APHA, AWWA, WEF. The instrument uses a batch sampling technique that allows the use of 0.25" tubing for sample lines so small amounts of solids will not affect instrument performance.
Other advantages of batch sampling are:
-
Analytical results are not affected by sample and reagent flows.
-
Analyses are only performed as frequently as required, minimizing reagent consumption.
Features:
-
Provides continuous on-line analysis of water or wastewater stream;
-
Ensures maximum reliability;
-
Ease of maintenance, rugged design;
-
Self-checking for easy diagnostics;
-
Minimizes sampling requirements;
-
Multiple communication ports, including bi-directional RS 232.
METHODS
Phenol compounds react with 4-aminoantipyrine at pH 7.9 in the presence of potassium ferricyanide to form a colored antipyrine dye. This dye is kept in aqueous solution and the absorbance is measured at 540 nm.
